The anime will adapt the "Manaria Mahō Gakuin" (Mysteria Academy in the English version) event within the Rage of Bahamut social game.

The TV anime will star Yōko Hikasa as Anne, the honor student princess, and Ayaka Fukuhara as Grea, a princess born from a dragon and a human. Both voice actresses are reprising their roles from the game. Mysteria Academy is a prestigious magic school that teaches magic without discrimination to the three races, who usually are engaged in battle with each other. The anime will follow the two young women as students at the academy.

The original event followed Anne, Grea, as well as Hanna, the student council president who hails from the Elf tribe.

The Rage of Bahamut fantasy social card game inspired the 13-episode Rage of Bahamut Genesis TV anime series that premiered in October 2014. The staff announced in May that a second seasonof the anime had been green-lit. Cygames anime division employee Nobuhiro Takenaka confirmedon Monday that Rage of Bahamut: Manaria Friends is not related to the second season of Rage of Bahamut Genesis.

Funimation streamed the first season as it aired.
